We are building a new, user-friendly Microsoft Teams app, development is part of the EU-funded Science Education for Action and Engagement towards Sustainability (SEAS) initiative, which supports teachers and the education of science. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Teaching material database<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The project is being done together with the Swedish teaching support company EduQuality, to support teachers with lesson planning and quality assurance, and improve the accessibility of teaching material on the company\u2019s database, Acedu. This is the next step in our long-term collaboration. We have previously developed different parts of the database, including support functions for different languages which allows teaching material to be used internationally.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

User-friendly Microsoft Teams app development<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe database is currently accessed via a web interface that enables searches and the upload of teaching material,\u201d says Mikael Grahn, Project Manager at Data Ductus. \u201cHowever, following the pandemic-driven transition to the Microsoft Teams environment, many more teachers in Sweden are using this platform for information sharing and distance learning. Therefore, it\u2019s the ideal time to build a user-friendly Teams app for the Acedu database.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTeachers are recipients of teaching material but don\u2019t often get the opportunity to influence the selection process of material. The teacher is the most important partner in our development work, so we start from the teacher and their needs,\u201d says Linus Rahbek, CEO of EduQuality. \u201cThe Teams application will, via AI and machine learning, support teachers in the quality control of lessons from a didactic basis. We believe that this will save teachers\u2019 time and increase the quality of the lesson plans. There will also be opportunities to collaborate with other teachers on lesson planning,\u201d Linus finishes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SEAS<\/a> was initiated in response to the rapid and changing pace of scientific advancement, and the corresponding need to promote scientific literacy for people to make smart decisions in a world facing many sustainability challenges as climate change. It maximizes the use of open-schooling networks to promote responsible citizenship via education on 21st century scientific literacy and skills. The results of the SEAS initiative will contribute to the development of models and experiences to integrate science education inside and outside schools.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
